  • Workshop is an initiative of Anvil Trust, a Christian education charity.
  • Workshop runs one weekend a month for eleven months in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London. It starts in September and ends in July (for dates and venue details click here).
  • The full cost of the course is only £30 deposit plus 12 monthly payments of £39 (total £498). (for details of fees, remission, discounts, sponsorships and payments click here).
  • Workshop is non-residential but, if necessary, hospitality can be arranged with local Christians (for accommodation details click here).
  • Each Workshop weekend runs morning and afternoon, Saturday and Sunday (for the timing and the timetable click here).
  • The full day of Workshop is an integral part of the course, including the coffee and lunch breaks. Relaxed meeting with people of other backgrounds is seen as an important element of the programme. It is an opportunity for participants to discuss issues with tutors, or in informal groups, and particular learning experiences are sometimes constructed for these periods.
  • Workshop is designed to build from one weekend to the next; for this reason, and for the continuity of the course, people can only book to do the complete course.
  • You are warmly invited to come to visit any of the Workshop centres on any of the weekends to experience the course for yourselves. Such a visit is entirely free of charge (for details click here).
  • An integral part of the course involves completing a portfolio of creative spiritual exercises, developed by the Workshop team, so gaining the unique and nationally recognised ABC ‘Certificate in Applied Christian Studies’, accredited by the national Qualification & Curriculum Authority (QCA)
  • Workshop is 'open access' and does not require participants to have previous educational qualifications.
  • Entry requirements for any Workshop participant are simply:-
    • a serious interest in the Christian faith.
    • an eagerness and enthusias to learn.
    • a firm intention to complete the course.
  • We welcome people who are fearful of study but who want to do the course. Previous participants have overcome their studying problems because the teaching identifies these background difficulties, while focusing on the unlimited potential that we each have for learning. We undertake to do everything we can to help anyone who is fearful of study or has any particular obstacle to learning.
  • People with various disabilities have done Workshop, in each case we always endeavour to meet their particular needs so that they can gain the maximum value from the programme (click for special facilities and learning needs and the enrolment form).
  • Most teaching on Workshop involves everyone studying together with a range of learning styles; plus there are regular small groups for discussion, exercises and case studies, and regular mentor support. Many weekends there is a ‘Forum’ with open discussion on issues raised by the programme.
  • Detailed notes are provided with every session including resources and questions. These give ample material for home study. It is up to each individual to devise their own study plan to fit the demands of their own circumstances.
  • You will be guided and supported by the team at your Workshop Centre at every stage of the Workshop course. This can happen in small groups with your mentors (on a ratio of approximately 1 to 4 learners) and time can be scheduled for one to one support with team members, as appropriate, during the weekends.
